Selampit Delapan Dance, Traditional Dance of Jambi
In antiquity, this dance brought and introduced by the Department of culture in Jambi province at the 1970s, namely m. Ceylon while he was still serving in the service. Although m. Ceylon was not the son of Jambi region, but his talent and ability in the field of dance art has made this dance so known in Jambi. The creation of this dance is a form of love to the arts. Before using fabric selampit, originally this dance is played by eight people with eight axes using a stove tied or hung on the Loft. The name "Selampit Eight" is taken from the eight ropes used in the dance. The purpose of the dance Selampit was first introduced to aggravate relations between the Association of youth. The atmosphere of familiarity between the youth can wake up either through this dance. Compactness values in everyday life is reflected in every motion in this dance
